When Potawatomi botanist and writer Robin Wall Kimmerer stood as a freshman in front of her botany advisor, she told him the reason she chose to study botany was to learn why asters and goldenrod looked so beautiful together.
That is not science, he matter of factly rebutted, dismissing her premise for wanting to explore the connection between beauty and science.
While the scientist might propose that the purpose of flowers is to attract pollinators, to promote fertilization and regeneration, the artist would suggest that nature is hardwired to achieve this manifestation through deep appeals to the senses. Because the purple of asters and goldenrod’s bright yellow are indeed reciprocal colors that appeal to the eyes of both bee and beholder, after all. And that without beauty, the cogs of nature would not inexorably turn. How is the artist, then, not also a scientist of sorts? A preserver and promoter of life through a balance of understanding and appreciation.
For March Supper Club, we’ll be heading up to Evanston to Saville Flowers, a flower shop of three generations and going strong. For the team at Saville, the shop is entirely relationship-based, and the service they provide is through stewardship of these longstanding and meaningful connections, fostering a kind of ecosystem of community, of threads and bonds that pass through seasons, down generations, across time.
For this dinner we’ll be preparing a menu that considers the role of beauty in food—flowers as a kind of aperture for opportunity and the sharing of delight—utilizing ingredients whose form is just as important as its flavor.

We will do our best to accommodate all necessary dietary restrictions, but please no ‘preferences’.
This dinner will be a 5 course progressive menu including a spirited cocktail and always invite guests to BYOB.
We do understand that life happens! If something comes up and you are not able to attend after purchase, we will happily transfer tix to another event. For circumstances that require cancellations: with in 3 days of the scheduled event, unfortunately we are unable to offer any refunds or transfers as perishable goods have been purchased.
Early bird ticket pricing, $95, will last until Monday February 3rd. After this date, tickets will be $110.

We cannot fully guarantee that traces of allergens are not present during the preparation of the products you are served. This may include, but is not limited to, nuts, gluten, eggs, dairy, shellfish, etc. As such, TXA TXA Club cannot accept responsibility for any injury (including death) or other loss suffered or caused by the products provided by TXA TXA Club. By attending any dinner or event by TXA TXA Club, you (and your guest/s) are doing so entirely at your own risk and will not hold TXA TXA Club responsible.
